Salute To Kids

The West San Fernando Valley Salute to Kids 2012, took place at Lanark Recreation Center on September 8th.  The event featured a March for Children's Safety, led by Ronald McDonald and Topanga Division LAPD.  More than 100 children and their parents marched through the neighborhood carrying signs and placards that advocated for a safe neighborhood.  Children participated in arts and crafts, learned about bullying, had their faces painted, pledged not to use drugs, rode a train, were fingerprinted, learned pedestrian safety and scored soccer goals.  Parents had the opportunity to sign their children up in the Girl Scouts, park programs, karate classes, LAPD Cadets and soccer leagues. Parents learned how they could get help with emergency preparedness, bulky item pickup, drug education and treatment, domestic violence and personal problems.

We want to thank Congressman Brad Sherman, Congressman, Howard Berman, Assemblymember Bob Blumenfield and City Attorney Carmen Trutanich for stopping by to greet the community members.
